To me, this is always the start of awards season and red carpet madness. And the 72nd annual Golden Globe Awards in Beverly Hills didn’t let me down. Watching the live stream of arrivals and constantly updating my Instagram feed, I was delighted by the bold, colorful, shiny and sleek. In fact, most of my top 10 picks feature fitted figures and a bit of embellishment. Let’s get to it!
Sienna Miller was one of the first stars I saw as she stepped out in Miu Miu. Always trendy and on point, I loved the deep V-cut balanced by a feminine A-line. The sheer back and her stylish bob helped make this look a winner.

Naomi Watts knows what looks good on her, and she hit the mark in a bright yellow Gucci column dress. Actually, she might be on every best dressed list I’ve ever made.

Chrissy Teigen can look equally sexy in a low-cut dress or totally covered up, as in last night’s Zuhair Murad choice. The neutral shade worked against her complexion, and I adore the lace-like details.

Heidi Klum may have hit it big as an Angel, but she looked every bit the devlish bombshell in a scarlet, one-shouldered Versace dress. Her retro curls add a touch of glamour.

Jenna Dewan-Tatum tops my list again, this year in Carolina Herrara. The soft yellow was a lovely shade for her, and the origami-like folding of the dress stood out from the typical styles.

Kate Beckinsale is a beauty and Elie Saab can do no wrong. The simple silhouette allowed the sparkling top to shine without looking childish.

Kate Hudson strikes in white again. The Versace gown fit her like a glove and featured a deep V-cut, but she wore the look nobly rather than vampy.

Have we seen a color that doesn’t work for Jessica Chastain? Her makeup perfectly complimented her delicate locks and the dark metallic shimmer of the Atelier Versace dress.

Dakota Johnson’s Chanel strapless dress shimmered like liquid metallic. She was smart to play it down by wearing her hair down and casual.

Emma Stone opted for a Lanvin pantsuit, a playful look few women could pull off on the red carpet. She made it look simple, yet graceful.

Additional shout outs go to Reese Witherspoon in Calvin Klein, Lorde doing her thing in a Narcisco Rodriguez ensemble and Viola Davis in Donna Karan Atelier looking every bit ravishing in the perfect shade of red. Lupita Nyong’o broke from her serious sartorial choices of 2014 and had fun in a playful Giambattista Valli gown.
One last mention goes to Amal Clooney. Her black Dior dress was a perfect choice for her first walk down the Golden Globes red carpet, and wearing gloves was certainly a regal choice. I often shy from stark black-and-white looks, and maybe I’d have liked to see her hair in smooth retro waves, but this time, Amal fell just short of my top 10.
What are your thoughts on Amal’s look? And who topped your list of favorites at the 2015 Golden Globes?
