Love it or hate it, palm prints have been a huge hit this year. A spin on the ever-popular floral notes, palm prints have hit runways, red carpets and shopping racks with a tropical, island vibe.

The pattern is fresh and lush with green — which is a color I almost always steer away from. But the leafy print breaks up the intimidating, solid green to make the hue more approachable. As long as you aren’t afraid of a little pattern play, that is.

Even fashion’s It-girls have gotten involved. Model Gigi Hadid rocked the pattern at the Lacoste Beautiful Desert Pool Party at this year’s Coachella festival in the form of shorts (see photo 3 below), and Atlantic-Pacific blogger Blair Eadie once again proves pattern-on-pattern is nothing to fear by wearing her midi-skirt with a white-and-pink striped blouse (photo 1). Blake Lively dressed the print up in a Sam & Lavi jumpsuit from her Preserve website on “Live! With Kelly and Michael” (photo 4).

Perfect for spring and summer, this pattern looks amazing paired with pristine whites (and a straw fedora to top it off would be killer!). But since summer is, sadly, reaching its home stretch, it’s comforting to know the palm-print pieces we’ve invested in won’t die with the changing leaves. Throw a solid-color blazer over that jumpsuit, or a fitted black long-sleeve top with your midi skirt.

Until then, let your tropical side run wild.
