“A collection devoted to grandeur, opulence and the beauty of women…” @eliesaabworld
“Shades of Gold” might have been the theme of the Elie Saab Haute Couture Autumn/Winter 2015 collection, but the show was by no means restricted to that brilliant hue. Peridot green offered freshness, opalescent pink added whimsy, and rich burgundy evoked the warmth of autumn.
And while the deep green mosaic embroidered gown did woo me, it wasn’t long before another shade of gold — or copper, or bronze — slinked back into view. All these jewel tones and precious metals added to the feeling that these women were Byzantine royalty, strutting through an antique and gilded palace.
Look after look was a statement piece of itself, flashy with embroidery or sheer drapings or both, yet there were moments of delicacy, too, in flowing floral dresses and two voluminous, darkly beautiful black gowns with blooms in deep, autumn tones.
Not one ensemble could be selected to represent the Lebanese couturier’s rich lineup, but here is a start to the Elie Saab Haute Couture Autumn/Winter 2015 collection. Visit Style.com to see the complete show, with photos by Gianni Pucci / Indigitalimages.com.
