It seems like baby bumps and toting toddlers have become the most darling accessories in Hollywood in the last few years. Though extremely private about her personal life, Beyonce occasionally reveals endearing moments with 3-year-old daughter Blue Ivy, and one of my favorite blondes, Blake Lively, delivered maternity style to new heights before giving birth to her daughter just before the New Year. As for me, I’ll be heading to the first of my own friends’ baby showers this month.
So, I can’t say it was entirely surprising – though certainly refreshing – to see the Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2015 Ready-to-Wear show make waves Sunday during Milan Fashion Week. A handful of models walked the runway carrying their own children, while D&G veteran Bianca Balti stunned in a soft-pink dress that revealed her baby bump.
Motherhood may have been central to the show, but equally so was the rose. From a sweet pink shift with the words “I love you, mom” in script to sexier black ensembles featuring the embroidery and lace Dolce & Gabbana is known for, the deep red bloom made itself seen.
“The rose was everything to the collection, not just because it’s the flower you give your mother on Mother’s Day, but because Stefano’s favorite childhood memory of his own mother is the rose scent of her red lipstick,” Tim Blanks writes for Style.com.
