I didn’t want to do the typical new year’s resolutions this year. Eat healthier, exercise more, gossip less… Yeah, these are all great resolutions to improve your lifestyle, but they aren’t for me.

This year I decided to change it up a bit and keep my resolutions simple and fun. Try wearing lipstick more often is one. Another is delving into my favorite fashion trends and actually trying to pull them off instead of admiring from afar (*cough cough* Pinterest).

One trend I’m loving lately is the assortment of hats. I’ve touched on the topic before (see my study abroad post “Put a Hat on It“), but even though I recently added a big floppy hat to my collection, I rarely have the patience or courage to rock the style.

With winter in full force — that polar vortex wasn’t messing around — a warm knit is as vital as ever. I never thought I’d say it, but after seeing the winter hat on Sincerely, Jules and other blogs, I’ve been dying to find the right hat one me.

One of my greatest sources of inspiration comes from the blogging babe behind The Ohio Transplant. When I met her at Ohio University, she instantly wooed me in both the fashion and friendship departments. Her ever-positive attitude is just as impressive as her unique ability to throw together a fabulous outfit. And no one can rock a hat like this gal.

So with a little Pinspiration and a study of my favorite blogs, I compiled a mood board of sorts to guide me as I jump into one of my 2014 trends to try. Do you have a favorite style hat?
