finding bliss

“To experience peace does not mean that your life is always blissful. It means that you are capable of tapping into a blissful state of mind amidst the normal chaos of a hectic life.”  —Jill Bolte Taylor

This is kind of a “grass is greener” quote. There are so many times when we can look at someone else’s life and think they have it better, or to look at our own and write it off as chaotic beyond reason.

What Taylor inspires us to do is to embrace our hectic life. It’s “normal” in our high-speed, high-tech society. Once we recognize where our chaos lies, it will be easier to tap into methods of relaxation and search for ways to access a blissful state of mind, despite a busy, stressful day.

Of course, life doesn’t have to be hectic. If you are able to take off, unplug and simplify, then do it. If not, go head-on into your “To Do” list and tackle problems as they come. But throughout the day make sure you stop for a snack, a glass of water, some warm coffee or to simply stretch and breathe deep before carrying on. As Happy Gilmore would say, find your happy place.
