Happy 4th of July!

For 364 days a year, I might pine for a life traveling abroad, but this is one day that I’m wholeheartedly proud to be an American. So many people around the world are fighting for some of the basic liberties we often take for granted. As fun as it is to get into the holiday spirit and deck out in the stars and stripes, remember today is also a good day to be grateful.

Now about those stars and stripes. For anyone in need of some last minute outfit inspiration on this most festive of days, here are a few ideas. Pair red shorts with a blue nautical striped shirt. Or a navy skirt with a red polka dot blouse. Get creative with red, white and blue accessories– think scarves, belts and bags.

As for the year-round ‘Merica lovers, you have been hording American flag apparel for the last nine months. See how some Pinterest pals pieced together their ready-made star and stripe ensembles.

To all the men out there, I haven’t forgotten you. You just get it a bit easier than the ladies. Throw on blue jeans and a red tee and you’re ready to go. Itching for more? Add a colored blazer or multi-colored shirt.

Who are we kidding? Everyone should wear Superman tees! And if you’re a Northeast Ohioan, I hope to see a sea of Indians fans in red, white and blue Tribe gear.

Hometown pride!
