The catwalk was as hot as ever during Milan Fashion Week, while temperatures outside made bundling up necessary.
Wintry fashion week weather has its upsides– at least for those of us viewing from the comfort of warm homes! For starters, I’m a huge fan of layers. I may not enjoy spending much time outdoors once temperatures drop, but seeing the coordinated assortment of chapeaus, trenches and scarves never ceases to please me. And then there is fur. Yes, please!
Secondly, the snow flurries in Milan made a whimsical backdrop for the outrageous threads on Anna Dello Russo and Miroslava Duma, along with the other impeccably dressed models, editors and attendees.
The frosty setting also helped to juxtapose a variety of bright hues. Is anyone else remembering the pops of color during Milan Fashion Week last year (2012 coverage here)?
Though the chilly air inspired sleek pea coats and a plethora of panama hats, one key accessory did not bend to meet weather conditions: shoes! Booties were both open- and close-toed despite damp roads, and heel height, as always, did not disappoint.
As for what went on indoors, catch up on the runway shows with some of my favorite sources: Style.com, Vogue and Milan Fashion Week. Also, keep an eye out for a post on the Elie Saab collection later this week!
