Martin Luther King Jr. has always been one of my greatest heroes. Today, I am remembering him by listening to his speeches, clicking through photos and meditating on the messages he preached. It’s astounding what an amazing man he was, and what an inspiration one man can be to the entire world. Here are some quotes we can all live by in our own lives, even decades after he spoke them.
“Peace is not merely a distant goal that we seek, but a means by which we arrive at that goal.”
“The time is always right to do what is right.”
“The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.”
“The first question which the priest and the Levite asked was: ‘If I stop to help this man, what will happen to me?’ But… the good Samaritan reversed the question: ‘If I do not stop to help this man, what will happen to him?’”
”There comes a time when silence is betrayal.”
