I will proclaim my adoration for Elie Saab season after season. His whimsical dresses never cease to make my heart skip a beat, and last night at the 84th Academy Awards, his bejeweled creations sparkled on the red carpet and topped my Best Dressed list.

The Artist walked away with a sweep of the major awards, and it was Bérénice Bejo who won my heart for best dressed. Her mint green embroidered gown from Elie Saab stood in contrast to the red carpet and set her apart from a sea of black tuxedos. The long sleeves were an extra touch of elegance, while her braided up-do added unique detail. Milla Jovovich also appeared in a stunning Elie Saab gown, elevating her to the top of my list as well.

Bérénice Bejo and Milla Jovovich were dazzling in Elie Saab couture

Jessica Chastain, who quickly rose to fashion stardom in 2011 (she got the call about her nomination while front row at an Armani show, of course!), stood out in a stunning Alexander McQueen gown with gold embellishments.

Angelina Jolie, always a favorite of mine, was all leg (right leg, to be exact) in a velvety Atelier Versace gown which she paired with a simple smoky eye and red lip. If you don’t know why #Angelina’sLeg was trending on Twitter, you clearly weren’t watching.

Michelle Williams was another favorite of the night for me, whose refreshing make-up paired well with her electric coral (some say red) Louis Vuitton dress. And hello, peplum detail!

Octavia Spencer, Michelle Williams and Viola Davis were among my favorite looks of the night

Octavia Spencer proved to be a winner on the carpet and on stage, glittering in her Tadashi Shoji as she accepted the award for Best Supporting Actress. I’d give her a standing ovation, too! A shout out here to her co-star Viola Davis for the au naturel hair, which surpirsed many viewers. Davis was stunning in emerald Vera Wang.

Natalie Portman and Penelope Cruz both arrived looking classic in old-Hollywood gowns. Miley Cyrus didn’t walk the red carpet, but images of her from the Vanity Fair party and Sir Elton John’s annual viewing party reveal a very grown-up and classy side of the oft-rebellious star. Her fishtail Roberto Cavalli gown and her accompanying hair and make-up were perfect for Hollywood’s favorite event.

Miley Cyrus wasn't at the Kodak Theatre, but she attended viewing parties looking Hollywood-glam
